Auto-Finesse Mint Rims lives up to its name: it protects your rims with durable synthetic waxes, and keeps them in mint condition. Its slick, high-gloss finish helps to repel damaging brake dust, and makes future wheel cleaning a snap. Once applied, the need for dedicated wheel cleaners is greatly reduced, and a ph neutral shampoo is all that is required to bring back a sparkling fresh finish. At Auto-Finesse, we think that caring for your wheels shouldn’t be difficult. For this reason, Mint Rims features the fastest and easiest application in its class, with a minty fragrance you wont forget.
Mint Rims is created from a blend of high-temperature synthetic waxes, and fast flashing solvent carriers. This blend of ingredients helps to seal your wheels from hot, corrosive brake dust and oxidation, while holding up against the rigors of the road. The durability on average is 2-3 months between applications, even on performance vehicles subject to frequent high-speed braking. Mint Rims can be used on any wheel surface, including painted, powder coated, clearcoated, anodized, chromed, and bare polished alloys.
Like all Auto-Finesse car care products, Mint Rims is formulated to suit the needs of professional detailers, but can be used with great success by detailing enthusiasts and first time detailers as well. It helps to protect every type of wheel and finish, from the most expensive custom three-piece polished alloy, to the most humble painted steel winter rim. Mint Rims was formulated for the workflow of a professional environment, and will show speed-conscious mobile detailers, or time-pressed weekend hobbyists a significant time saving.
Wheel waxes are exposed to truly brutal operating conditions, and have a different set of requirements than normal paint protection products. On account of this, we decided to make a dedicated high-temperature synthetic paste wax, capable of withstanding even the toughest service. Mint Rims was the result of months of rigorous testing, and takes conventional wheel sealant technology to the next level. Its badge of approval from the detailing community has been well earned. As with all Auto-Finesse detailing products, Mint Rims wheel wax lives up to its promises.
Directions:
Start by cleaning the wheels with a strong dedicated wheel cleaner, like Auto-Finesse Imperial, making sure to remove all traces of brake dust from the wheel surface. If heavy tar or brake dust deposits persist after cleaning, use dedicated tar and iron fallout remover products like Auto-Finesse ObliTARate and Iron Out to get the wheels as clean as possible. At this point you can dry your wheels with a Microfiber Drying Towel. Mint Rims is a very forgiving product when it comes to surface preparation, but at this stage you can also clay and polish your wheels for the best results before sealing. Mint Rims is compatible with Mercury metal polish for bare alloy wheels, and any of our signature Pre-Wax Cleansers for clear and powder coated finishes. These additional preparation steps will help to significantly increase gloss, remove unsightly scratches, and increase bonding. Once the finish has been prepped to your satisfaction, you can now use a round Foam Applicator, or Waxmate to apply Mint Rims. A little bit goes along way, so try to apply the product in a thin, even coat. As soon as you have applied the first coat to the entire wheel surface, you can immediately remove the residue with a short-pile Microfiber Towel. Additional coats can be layered immediately, or after you have completed the other wheels. No curing time is necessary. For maximum durability and gloss, we recommend applying 2-3 coats, though one coat will still provide your wheels with decent protection.
For regular maintenance of your protected wheels, a pH-neutral shampoo like Auto-Finesse Lather should be all that is necessary. However, if heavier cleaning is needed, Auto-Finesse Citrus Power will give you the extra grime-removing power you need without degrading the finish. Avoid using strong wheel cleaners, as these will negatively affect the durability of Mint Rims.
